After 10 long years, I have lost a true friend who has always been there when I needed him. My Swiss Army Knife has finally passed on to that great Lost-And-Found paradise in the sky. I did not know how much I really depended on my knife until I had lost it. It quickly become obvious that it was an integral part of my life. My Swish Army Knife was an invaluable tool that I could use whenever I needed to cut, pry, screw or unscrew, open a can or bottle, or needed a toothpick or tweezers. After a few days of feeling incomplete, I went out and bought a new knife to fill that empty void. I could not find the one I originally had, so I ended up getting the Victorinox Sportsman. When I opened the package and felt the comfortable and familiar grip of the Sportsman, I felt whole again. Now I am ready to take on the world!

Pronounced ah-SIGH-ee, acai is the national fruit of Brazil and reputedly the healthiest food on the planet. Turn it into a sleek bottle of booze, and it’s a pretty popular fruit as well.

Tasting a little sweeter than vodka and with the added claim of not causing hangovers, Veev Acai Spirit is gaining popularity in the party towns. First only available in Los Angeles and San Diego, it gained a cult following among A-list celebrities. Matthew McConaughey, Orlando Bloom, and Drew Barrymore have all been spotted, improving their health, with a Veev martini.

Veev’s Acai Spirit is the newest in a line of “green” spirits, using its youthful popularity to fund environmental causes. Veev donates $1 from the sale of every bottle to the Sustainable Acai Project which benefits farming in the Amazonian Rainforest, the very rainforest that supplies the Acai.

In addition to benefitting the environment, Veev claims this 60-proof spirit contains enough antioxidants to actually promote good health. Acerola cherry, prickly pear, and the acai provide 57% more antioxidants than pomegranates or blueberries, not to mention 30 times more anthocyanins than red wine.

Veev was created by two investment bankers who wanted to combine their appreciation for the Amazon with a product that would bring their message to young, drinking-age Americans. While surfing in Brazil in 2003, Courtney and Carter Reum came across the acai berry, heard tales of its healthful benefits, and brought it back to the United States. These brothers created a liquor company to market the spirit, but maintained an environmental goal – to help continue the wild farming that produces the acai and protect the rainforest from demolition.

The idea that an alcoholic beverage could be both environmentally friendly and healthy to drink is a new trend. Frank Coleman, a spokesman for the Distilled Spirits Council, claims this fad is akin to the organic food that has become so popular over the past decade. Fresh, environmentally-friendly ingredients have crossed over from the kitchen to the liquor cabinet.

One of the secrets to Veev’s Acai Spirit seems to be its selective marketing. The sales force, who drive environmentally-friendly Toyota Priuses, have limited their distribution to high-end glamorous bars, with significant celebrity sightings. The expansion from San Diego to Los Angeles has created a buzz, so much so that bar owners in New York City and Miami Beach are begging for the product to be distributed in their area. It seems that even on the east coast, a concoction of green and healthy is just too much to resist.

It has been a year since my aunt past away at the age of 55 on December 15, 2006. For at least six months before her death she said she was working on her will on her computer. She told me and my other aunts that it would be outlined in the will that I would take care of all of her affairs and pay off her house. I spoke to her about a week before she past away.

Fast forward a year later…The house, safe deposit box, and computer were searched, but no will was found. Since there was no will, there was nothing that either I or my other aunts could do legally. My aunt’s daughter, who is in her mid twenties, went to jail for about six months or more and another aunt took care of her two young kids and the house.

When my cousin gets out of jail, she puts my aunt out after a short while and burns through over $100K of insurance money in just over a month (so I was told). She purchased expensive jewelry, big screen TV’s, and cars, but did not have them for long after someone broke into her apartment and stole everything. My cousin then tries to get to the $100K of insurance money that was left to her two kids, but my other aunt made sure it was put into a trust fund that they can’t get till they are 18. My cousin now gets some bank account information from a statement that had gone out before my aunt (who had taken care of her kids) had put in a change of address. I think my cousin gets about $20K or more before my aunt finds out and locks the account.

Since my aunt has past away, the police have gone to her house countless times. I saw paperwork that someone had put a bid in to buy her house and that it may be in pre-foreclosure. My cousin has no money and may soon have charges pressed against her for stealing money.

My aunt knew–as well as everyone else–that her daughter was not very responsible and could not properly take care of her affairs. But still, she procrastinated in getting a will. After all that has happened in the last year, I feel sad that my aunt did not have a will. Make sure you have a will so that the most important decisions of your life are carried out even after you are gone.

Create Your WILL at LegalZoom.com like I did. It took about 30 minutes and cost $69.00. A lawyer would charge you approximately $540.00 for this last will and testament, saving you $471.00!

If you don’t have a will, get one now! Don’t wait! Go to LegalZoom.com and Create Your WILL.

After reading many blogs over the last couple of years, I finally decided to turn my old cobweb of a site to a Blog format. I looked at quite a few other blogging software and services and decided to settle on WordPress. I like the 5 Minute Flawless Installation and that you can extend it by developing plugins in PHP. Its also super customizable! I am going to convert the other small sections of my old site sometime this week so that everything looks uniform. I need to start looking for a new theme or create a custom one. The custom theme may come after I get familiar with the WordPress way of things. Wish me luck!
