Playground Rules (Not Just For Kids!)
Jun 16th, 2007 by William Jones
While waiting for my car to finish getting a smog test today at the Honda car dealership, my wife and I were watching our daughter entertain herself inside in the playground area. Looking around the area, I noticed they had a couple of chairs, a bean bag, chalk board, a bus with letter blocks on both sides, and a few other items to keep kids preoccupied. My attention then turned to the playground wall. I noticed the alphabet on the wall. The upper and lower-case printed letters A through N were toward the top of the wall, and letters O through Z were on the lower section of the wall. The numbers zero through ten were immediately to the right of the letter Z. The nine small posters in the middle section of the wall caught my attention next. They were arranged in a three by three grid pattern. I read each poster one by one. When I finished reading the playground rules, it dawned on me at that moment that these simple, easy to understand principles were not just for kids on the playground. These rules were also important for adults to follow in both their personal and business life. You be the judge…
Playground Rules:
- Let’s Get Along.
- Use Kind Words.
- Think Before Acting.
- Share.
- Listen.
- Take Turns.
- Encourage Others.
- Be Quick To Forgive.
- Talk It Over.
Love the concept! Now … if we could just get everyone to agree to those rules!
Ahhh … wouldn’t life be easier.
